Ole Slewfoot Workshop is Michael and Elaine Anderson’s small creative business in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. We make colorful layered wood art, custom pieces, and functional wood-and-resin work with plenty of texture, personality, and visible craftsmanship.

Some pieces begin with an image, a song, an animal, or a shape we cannot stop thinking about. Others begin with a customer’s story. Either way, our goal is the same: to make something distinctive that feels at home with the person who chooses it.

We embrace natural wood grain, exposed edges, and the small variations that come with handmade work. Those details are not flaws—they are part of what makes each piece its own.

How a Piece Comes Together

1. The idea
   We start with a subject, story, or feeling. For custom work, we talk with you about the size, wood, colors, and where the finished piece will live.

2. The design
   We turn the idea into a layered composition, balancing shape, depth, color, and the natural character of the wood.

3. The build
   Each layer is cut, prepared, painted or stained, and assembled by hand. The stacked construction creates real depth and shadows that change with the light and viewing angle.

4. The finishing details
   We inspect the piece, finish the edges, and add the appropriate hanging hardware or functional details. For available artwork, the photos show the exact piece you will receive.

5. Ready for its place
   We pack each piece carefully for shipping, or arrange local pickup near Winston-Salem. Custom pieces stay collaborative through the process, so there are no surprises at the end.
